Internet Security

Internet security is an issue that has been concerning the technological community, especially in recent times. Nowadays, we are all exposed to malicious users who, either for their own entertainment or personal gain, try to take advantage of any opportunity and attack individuals who are less informed about the dangers lurking in cyberspace.

Unfortunately, no one can be certain about their security, as the attacker has the advantage of time to overcome the protection set up by the defender. Our goal is to make this process difficult enough to prevent and discourage these malicious users.

One of the easiest and most certain ways for someone to gain access to your data is by having "physical" access to your computer, either by having time to search through all your files or by installing remote control software on your system.

You should always be mindful of where your laptop or portable device is located. Also, it is advisable to avoid using optical discs or USB sticks that have not been checked and do not come from trusted people, as well as to avoid entrusting your devices to strangers.

Nowadays, every device allows you to lock it with a password. Whether it’s a desktop or portable computer, smartphone, or tablet, you can set a personal password that should not be shared with anyone, except perhaps your most trusted individuals.

On all devices, this option is usually found within the menu called "Settings," and on computers, you will find it in the "Control Panel."

This is about protecting your system via the internet. Many applications that are released from time to time promise to enhance the security of your devices, and it would be wise to trust them, especially if they are from recognized companies.

Of course, there are also pre-installed options in the Windows system. It is recommended to always have the firewall features and applications that recognize malware or virus software enabled. Naturally, these options do not provide maximum protection, but they will definitely discourage someone from "attacking" you.

The truth is, today, protecting yourself from the electronic threats that exist on the internet is a time-consuming process that requires our attention with every move. Unfortunately, with every "electronic" action we take, theoretically, we put our personal data and the privacy of our files at risk. If we can make these simple steps part of our daily routine, they will help us at least maintain some basic protection against the countless risks lurking on the internet today.
